Hachiko: A Dog's Story.
CNN’s Richard Quest goes behind-the-scenes during the filming of “Hachiko” and speaks to cast and crew including actor Richard Gere to learn about animal actors in film and the “No Animals Were HarmedĀ®” end credit disclaimer.
Since 1940, the American Humane Association has ensured the proper care and safety of animals that appear in filmed entertainment. Our Los Angeles-based Film & Television Unit is designated by the Screen Actors Guild as the only animal welfare organization with on-set jurisdiction. It’s a responsibility our highly qualified and trained Certified Animal Safety Representatives take seriously as they travel around the world to protect animal actors and award American Humane’s famous “No Animals Were Harmed” end-credit disclaimer to those productions that meet our strict Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media.
This Movie was Awesome. I want to say top 5 movies richard gere has done. Oh wait it would of been a half naked teenage/horror/bad acting movie. It would of had 3 months of Promo plus all exlusive pricing at the movies. Geez Today’s world is not Yesterday’s world

I’m sure its going to be a “tearjerker”. I know it will for me. I hope with this movie the rise in sales of Akita’s does not go through the roof, like other dog movies, with pure breds, because then shelters are overrun, and this is a breed that is not for everyone. At one time they were so rare in the U.S. that the Japanese counsel would assist you if you were have financial difficulty with your Akita regarding health issues, and such. Richard Gere is a fine actor and “true” not all of his movies are “great”. But I bet this one will be.

I don’t think we need to worry about a run on Akita’s, seen not many people are going to see the movie anyway. My wife rented the movie from a Red Box kiosk. I liked the movie so much that I kept it, to pay the fee to purchase it. I now know, by watching the movie, that I own an Akita mix. People tried to tell us that it was a pitbull mix, but his head and his personality, just doesn’t look like nor does he act like a pit.
Lucky, our Akita mix, is about 15 years old now. He came to us about 8 -10years ago. We own a ranch in CA and people dump their unwanted dogs out here all the time. He was abused to the point that I could not even raise my voice at him without him just laying down on his back waiting to be kicked. He’s always had a limp from his abuse. It took us a long time to gain this animals trust. Then I learn from the movie that an Akita “ chooses “ you….you don’t choose him. A couple of days ago, Luckys’ daughter had a large litter of pups, nine in all. I now have three generations of my beloved Akita on our property. Lucky still lays on his back, only now it is to get his tummy scratched. Rent this movie if you love dogs or just want to watch a Very Good Gere Movie!
